Heather Huson, PhD in Molecular Genetics, is a researcher at Cornell University's Department of Animal Science in New York. Her work focuses on sled dog genetics, understanding the genetic foundations of performance in arctic breeds, and how to improve health and capability through breeding strategies.

Sergio Maffi, a well-known sled dog veterinarian and researcher, has participated in most major long-distance sled dog races in Norway and internationally for many years. In 2025, he published an article “Main Pathological Conditions Causing Withdrawal of Sled Dogs from Finnmarksløpet 2022–2024”. He will present these findings and also address the effects of sleep deprivation in Veterinarians during races and its consequences.
